Albany softball team drops out of playoffs

An exciting four-game winning streak was halted on Thursday night in the playoffs.

A narrow 6-5 loss to neighboring rival Holdingford last night was followed by an 11-1 loss in the elimination game to Paynesville Area for the Albany Huskies softball team in the double-elimination round of the Sub-Section 6AA-East tournament. They finish the season 6-12 overall.

Holdingford went on to lost to Milaca by an 11-5 score in the evening game.

Milaca plays Staples-Motley next Tuesday in the winner's bracket final game. The winner of that game advances to the Section 6AA championship, while the elimination bracket sorts out who comes out of the remaining teams. Still alive are Holdingford, Pequot Lakes and Paynesville Area.
