Huskies drop football opener

In their Granite Ridge Conference opener, the Albany Huskies football team lost 37-22 to visiting Zimmerman (defending GRC champion) tonight.

Scott Litchy ran for two touchdowns to put the Huskies up 16-7 before the Thunder, a 4A football school, exploded for 30 unanswered points. Albany's Andrew Salzl had a two-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to cap the game's scoring.

The Huskies search for their first win of the year at Mora next week in another Granite Ridge battle. The Mustangs lost 34-28 to Princeton tonight in their season opener.

Huskies volleyball team takes runner-up at home invitational

In season-opening action at a home invitational last Friday, the Albany Huskies went 3-1 on the day to take second place out of eight teams. They lost in two close games to former conference rival Sauk Centre in the championship game.

Both the Huskies and Mainstreeters are expected to be two of the top teams in the Section 6AA race.
