LeClair opens state golf meet on Tuesday

In his first appearance at the Class 2A state golf tournament, Albany junior Jordan LeClair sits in a tie for 79th place after shooting a rounds of 42-44-86 on the first day of the meet.

Action continues today at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan for the final day of the state meet.

Sachs, Kollodge, 4x400 relay makes finals at state

Madi Sachs ran a 2:22.64 in the 800 run at the Class A state track and field preliminaries today at Hamline University in St. Paul. She advances to the finals with 8 other athletes, and their event will be at 6:12 p.m. on Saturday night.

The Albany 4x400 girls' relay team took almost 2 seconds off of their seed time and qualified for Saturday's finals with a finish of 4:07.39 in the preliminary round today. Their championship round is at 6:45 p.m. tomorrow.

In the 300 hurdles, Mitchell Kollodge qualfied for the finals with a finish of 41.18 seconds. His championship event is at 6:03 p.m. on Saturday.

Albany softball finishes 6th at state tournament

In today's consolation championship game of the Class 2A state tournament, the Albany Huskies softball team lost 8-5 against Mound Westonka. They erased a 2-0 deficit when they scored twice in the second inning, and then a 3-3 score stood up through a good portion of the game before the White Hawks (18-10, Section 5 champions) pulled in front 8-5 and held on for the win.

Albany finishes another sparkling season with a 20-3 overall record after their second straight appearance in the state tournament.

The Class 2A consolation championship game is at 9 a.m. today in North Mankato.

Good luck to the Albany Huskies athletes at the Class A state track and field meet

Action begins at 3 p.m. on Friday at Hamline University and continues on Saturday with the finals.

Albany baseball drops game one against St. Cloud Cathedral

The Huskies scored four runs on two hits and two errors against St. Cloud Cathedral in the first inning of the second game tonight at St. Cloud's Dick Putz Field.

After three innings complete, Albany leads 4-0.

After five and a half innings, Albany leads 4-2.

In an extra-inning game, the Albany Huskies lost 7-4 in eight innings to Cathedral. They end the season with a 15-11 overall record.

Huskies win at state!

The Albany Huskies softball team won tonight in the consolation semifinals against Kasson-Mantorville to advance to Friday's action at the Class 2A state tournament.

Huskies softball loses nailbiter in state opener

The Albany Huskies dropped their state softball quarterfinal game by a 2-1 score to Maple River today at North Mankato. The Eagles improved to 19-7, while the Huskies fall to 19-2.

They will play in the consolation semifinals around 5:30 p.m. tonight against an opponent yet to be determined.

With the score tied 1-1 heading into the sixth inning, the Eagles plated the go-ahead run on a sacrifice-fly RBI to right field on no outs.

Albany's 1-0 lead was erased in the fifth on a two out RBI-single.

Huskies state game is delayed

The 9 a.m. game has been delayed due to rain at the state tournament site in North Mankato. The next projected start time is at 11:30 a.m. for the Maple River game.

The Albany Huskies softball team opens the Class 2A state tournament today at 9 a.m. at Caswell Park in North Mankato with a quarterfinal round match up with Maple River.

The second game, win or lose in game one, is at 3 p.m. today.

Huskies primed for Section 6AA baseball championship series

The Albany Huskies are in a position to earn a state tournament berth for the first time since 2008, as they face St. Cloud Cathedral on Thursday in St. Cloud in the Section 6AA championship.

The Huskies, 15-9 overall, need one win out of a possible two chances in order to advance. If they win the first game at 5 p.m. at Dick Putz Field, they are state-bound. If the Crusaders win game one, Albany would have to win a second game that night in order to move on.

Up next for the Albany softball team: STATE!

In their second straight appearance in the Class 2A state tournament, the Albany Huskies softball team (19-1) will face Section 2-2A champion Maple River at 9 a.m. on June 7 at Caswell Park in North Mankato. The Eagles are 18-7 overall but went a perfect 8-0 in the Valley Conference to claim the championship. They average 6.5 runs per game while holding a defensive average of 2.2 runs per game.

Maple Lake last won a section softball title in 2008, when they finished 21-7 overall after a 1-1 showing at the state tournament.
