Huskies softball team advances to sub-section title game

In a nutshell, the Albany Huskies softball team earned a second straight berth in a sub-section championship game when they beat visiting Holdingford tonight by a 6-3 score. The Huskies, who improved to 16-1 overall with the win, led at one point by a 4-0 margin.

Up next for the Huskies softball team: the Sub-Section 6AA-East championship against Little Falls (14-7) on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Whitney Park in St. Cloud. The Flyers (8-3 Granite Ridge Conference) ended Paynesville Area's season tonight in a 12-9 win in the other semifinal game.

At Sauk Centre tonight, the Albany Huskies baseball team lost 3-1 in the regular season finale. They open the playoffs on Thursday. Information about the playoff pairings and schedule will be posted on Wednesday as well. Paynesville Area clinched sole possession of the conference crown with a 12-4 win over Minnewaska Area tonight. Albany (11-9 overall) finished in second place alone at 6-4.
