Conference champions!

Coach Ressler talks to his team following their 12-7 win at Minnewaska earlier this season. The Lakers and Huskies beat one another on their respective home diamonds, leading to both teams sharing the 2012 WCC-North title.
A special achievement was earned tonight by the Albany Huskies softball team, as they earned a share of the West Central North Conference title tonight in a 5-0 win over visiting Melrose Area. Senior pitcher Karli Persson, who has been a force on the stripe all year for the Huskies, struck out eight of the first nine Dutchmen batters. The lone batter she didn't strike out during that span was kept from reaching base when Persson fielded a short infield grounder and earned a put out at first.

At Melrose, the Albany Huskies baseball team beat the Dutchmen 5-0 for their fourth straight win and second by shut out. Now 10-7 overall, the Huskies have a big first-place show down with fellow conference co-leader Paynesville Area on Thursday in Avon. Both teams are 6-2 in the WCC-North after the Bulldogs edged New London-Spicer tonight 8-5. Sauk Centre (8-6) holds third place alone with a 4-4 league mark.
