Albany baseball, softball teams beat Paynesville Area

In West Central North Conference action tonight, the Albany baseball team defeated Paynesville Area 4-3 to square their overall record at 4-4. Scott Litchy got the complete-game win on the mound, scattering seven hits with one earned run, three walks and six strikeouts. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and a double. The Huskies led 2-0 after one inning and 3-2 after two innings were complete.

In Albany, the Huskies softball team beat Paynesville Area 3-1. An error by the Paynesville third baseman was the difference in the game. Albany took the lead when the ball bounced off the Bulldogs third baseman’s glove. It was followed by a single and a double to drive in two. That put Albany ahead for good as Paynesville’s only run came when Brooke Wuertz tripled in the fourth inning and scored on a passed ball. Karli Persson pitched a complete-game win with three hits against no walks and eight strikeouts. The Huskies batters struck out only twice in the game but tallied only four hits against Paynesville's Megan Schaefer.

Keep up with all things Husky-related in the Albany Enterprise.
