At the Big Bear tournament in Blackduck on Saturday, the Albany Huskies wrestling team turned in a fine performance while finishing 20th out of 33 teams. Read more on the results in this week's Albany Enterprise.
The Albany Huskies defeated Becker 62-47 in a Granite Ridge Conference boys' basketball game on Thursday night. They improve to 4-1 with the win, while the Bulldogs fell to 4-2.
In the conference, the Huskies, Becker and Zimmerman are tied for third place with 2-1 records each. Little Falls has a half-game lead on that pack at 3-1, while St. Cloud Cathedral is in first place at 3-0.
Next for the Huskies is another home game against Mora on Friday, Dec. 19. The Mustangs are 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
The Albany Huskies wrestling team rallied for a 33-31 win in a match with Zimmerman Tuesday, Dec. 16 at Albany. The match was decided by Brayan Guevara's (pictured below) victory in the 220 division. See a report on the contest in the Dec. 24 issue of the Albany Enterprise.
Albany's next contest is Thursday at Milaca. They competes in a two-day tournament at Cass Lake starting on Friday.
The Albany Huskies girls' basketball team suffered their first loss of the season in a trip to Sauk Centre last night for a non-conference contest. The Mainstreeters led 42-37 at halftime and then poured it on with an 8-0 run during the first 59 seconds of the second half. Final: Sauk Centre 73, Albany 67.
Next for the 2-1 Huskies is a trip to Mora (2-0) on Saturday for a Granite Ridge Conference game.
Tonight the boys' basketball team hosts Annandale, who just lost at Foley last night 69-55.
At Cathedral high school, the Crusaders pulled out a 74-71 overtime win over the Albany Huskies boys' basketball team tonight. Next is a home game with Annandale (1-3) on Friday.
At home, the Albany Huskies girls' basketball team beat St. Cloud Cathedral 56-35 for a 2-0 start to the season and 1-0 in the Granite Ridge Conference. The Huskies are the defending conference champion. Their last GRC loss was at Foley on Jan. 24, 2014. Next is a tough game at Sauk Centre (2-1) this Thursday.
